New Multi-Featured Park Open in Apex NC
A unique venue for Raleigh, NC and its suburbs opened in late March 2014. It’s called the “Apex Nature Park,” and encompasses 160 beautiful and functional acres. Featured are an outdoor amphitheater, disc golf course, dog park and more.
Nearly a Decade in the Making
Also including Seymour Athletic Fields, the park is located at the corner of Evans and Apex Barbecue roads. Its amphitheater will hold about 400 people for concerts and other special events. In addition, the venue has an 18-hole disc golf course, along with approximately three scenic miles of jogging and walking trails. There also are two shelters with nearby restrooms that are available for rental. Tennis buffs will appreciate the adult and youth lighted tennis courts, and pet owners will enjoy the two-acre dog park where Fido can run free. The dog park requires registration. Other sports venues in the park include a sand volleyball court and basketball courts.
A Great Resource for the Region
Apex parks director John Brown said that the town expects to hold state and regional tournaments at the disc golf course — this will be a first for the town. Activities planned for the amphitheater include concerts, theatrical performances and environmental education classes. Family-friendly movie screenings are planned for the fall. Activities for children include a multi-age playground. The venue was scheduled to open earlier in 2014, but was delayed by bad winter weather.
The park’s full address is 2600 Evans Road, Apex, Wake County, NC.
